DIY Body Butter

Hey guys!

Since the weather is starting to finally get cooler around here I thought it would be fun to share how I make my own moisturizer!

In Atlanta, winters tend to be really dry, and as someone with very sensitive skin, I try not to use any skincare products that are packed with chemicals- especially my moisturizer.

This is a super easy recipe, all natural, and is filled with vitamins and nutrients that your skin will surely thank you for!

The great thing about this butter is you can use it as a moisturizer for your body, as a deep conditioner for your hair, and as an all natural makeup remover. I use it for everything skin care related and love it!

There are three ingredients to this nourishing homemade lotion.

Raw Cocoa Butter- Because it is raw and unrefined, this butter maintains all of its vitamins and minerals that benefit your skin.

Extra Virgin Olive oil- This variety is cold pressed which allows the oil to hold onto all the nutrients that are good for you!

Virgin Coconut Oil- Specifically virgin coconut oil is extracted from fresh coconut milk whereas regular coconut oil is extracted from dried coconuts. This difference is why the virgin variety is so much healthier for your skin!

These ingredients contain vitamins A, K, and E, which help keep your skin looking young and maintain the elasticity in it. It also helps repair skin from cigarette smoke and sun exposure. The vitamin E specifically treats acne and skin inflammation.

They also have essential fatty acids that help rebuild collagen- the protein in your body that rejuvenates skin.

  • Cocoa Butter- 1 cup
  • Olive Oil- 1/4 cup
  • Coconut Oil- 1/4 cup

1. Grab two pots- one bigger and one smaller or a pot and a bowl that will fit inside of it.

We don’t want to expose the butters and oils to extreme heat because that increases the risk of losing some nutrients. By double boiling, we can melt the ingredients and mix them together in a safe and effective way.

2. Put flame on the lowest heat.

3. Place the cocoa butter. Wait for it to melt completely.

4. Put in the coconut oil and allow that to melt as well.

5. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil and stir.

6.Turn off heat. Cool for two minutes and transfer to jar.

V(oil)a! This is a super easy process and should be done within 15 minutes.

I really hope you try it, and once you do, let me know what you think!

Till next time guys ❤️!
